The minimum age for the 25 miler event is 15 years old, in accordance with the Cycling South Africa MTB rules and regulations.

Your time will reflect as a Solo rider.

Online entries will close at midnight on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, or when the event limit of 2000 riders has been reached. Late entries will be available at registration.



PLEASE NOTE:

- Around the Pot is a Cycling South Africa sanctioned event. Riders will need to purchase a R50 day license if they do not have a year license.

- E-bikes are permitted on all distances, there is no separate E-bike category and they will not be eligible for podium prizes. Please enter in the separate E-Bike Batch category when entering for the race on Entry Ninja.  




REGISTRATION:

- Registration for all four distances will take place on Friday, 1 August 2025 from 13:00 - 21:00 (Registration for the 200 miler closes at 20:00) at the Swellendam Show Grounds.

- There will be a late registration option available on Saturday, 2 August between 05:00 - 07:00 (100 miler/60 miler/25 miler ONLY).

- Each rider will receive a goodie bag at Registration

- Please collect and hand in your team support box at Registration

- Please make sure you have collected your support vehicle sticker with registration.




ENTRY PROCESS

- All entries will open on Monday 2 September 2024 on Entry Ninja 08h00.

- All Entries and Garment sales are available on the CIOVITA website

- Garments will also be available at registration and on race day to purchase.

 

- Online Entries will close on Tuesday 29 July 2025.



CANCELLATIONS

- 75% of entry fee is refunded if cancellation is done in May and earlier;

- 50% of entry fee is refunded if cancellation is done in June

- 0% of entry fee is refunded if cancellation is done in July (if at this late stage your partner cannot participate anymore, you will be allowed to do a late substitution, or partake as a single rider. You will be allowed to collect your partners’ race pack. PLEASE hand in the unused bike number-board. Inform the entry office if you will be a single rider and with what other team you will slot in.

- Under no circumstances will an entry be rolled over.




SUBSTITUTIONS

- Substitutions can be done as follows:

- Substitutions close on 13 July 2025 and thereafter only at Registration.

- Email support@entryninja.com with existing and substitute participants ID No. (R50 cost)

- Also add his/her name and new email address.

- Once you have made the substitution payment, you will receive a new email confirming the new rider. If you have not received the mail, contact the event management  on support@aroundthepot.co.za or Entry Ninja Support on support@entryninja.com

- Cyclists who have entered and paid, but cannot participate in the ATP Event, for whatever reason, must inform the Event Management. No cyclist is allowed to participate under the name of another participant. Such action will lead to immediate disqualification.

- Please note that all team participants, including the race organiser, will be notified of substitutions.

- Please note that once a substitution is completed, the original riders’ details will not be kept for future events.

- Please note that substituted team participants will receive the clothing size of the initial participant.



Please note ALL substitutions close on 13 July 2025 as well as changes in distances. Late substitutions/changes can then only be done at Registration.



RACE DAY INFO

- The race briefing will be done at the start line 15min before the race starts, and will be available in the Event Guide.

- All finishers will receive a race medal and a finish line hamburger.

- Routes can be downloaded in GPX format from the Website.

Prizegiving will take place on Saturday, 2 August 2025 at 15:00.


ON ROUTE & WATERPOINTS

This route will mainly consist of fast flowing gravel/dirt roads through the rolling foothills of the Overberg.

200 Miler:

​

  • 200 Miler Riders (308km) will leave Swellendam at 21:00 on Friday evening.

  • You will reach Waterpoint 1 (62km) at about 01h00 at Sophia Hall. 5 x Waterpoints (of which 3 are official Checkpoints) on route with water, Coke, Enduren and lots to eat.(62km WP1 / 84km WP2&CP1 / 133km WP3 / 182km WP4 & CP2 / 238km WP5/CP3) CP1 and CP2 are at the exact same location and you will need to come back to Protem to check into CP2. After checking into CP2 atProtem you will continue back onto the route on your way to Ouplaas and then Swellendam. At Waterpoint 5 at Ouplaas (238km), you will enter a neutral zone for 30 minutes.

  •  At all checkpoints you will be able to meet your team support vehicle or support box. Teams without support vehicles will be able to collect their support boxes at the 3 checkpoints. 

  • Support boxes to be handed in by 20h00 on Friday. (1 hour before start)

  • Support boxes must be your own container clearly marked for which checkpoint.

  • Support boxes must be as small as possible.

  • Support boxes from CP1/2 can be collected from Registration on Saturday afternoon 13h00. Support box from CP3 can be collected from Registration on Saturday afternoon 16h00.

  • Hamburger at the finish when you hand in your race number. 

  • Cut-off time at CP2 Protem (182km) is 09h00 = avg speed 15km/h

  • Cut-off time at Ouplaas (238km) is 14h00 = avg speed 14km/h

  • Cut-off time at the finish line is 19h00 Saturday evening. (22hours) =14km/h

100 Miler:

100 Miler Riders will leave Swellendam at 07h30am and reach Waterpoint 1 (31km) at about 08h30 - 10h00.

  • There are 6 water points on route with water, Coke, energy drink and eats.

31km WP1: Tarentaal

52km WP2: Vryheid

79km WP3: Sans Soucci

96km WP4: Ouplaas

120km WP5: Melkhoutfarm

147km WP6: Finishline Drinks

  • At Waterpoint 4 at Ouplaas (96km) you will enter a neutral zone for 30 minutes. Here you will be served with lunch at Ouplaas and you'll experience real Overberg hospitallity. This is where you will meet your team support vehicle. Teams without support vehicles will be able to collect their support boxes at the water table. 

  • Support boxes/Ebike batteries to be handed in by 6:30am on race day.

  • Support boxes/Ebike batteries must be your own container clearly marked for which checkpoint.

  • Support boxes must be as small as possible.

  • Collect boxes from 4pm after the race.

  • Hamburger at the finish when you hand in your race number.

  • Ouplaas CUT-OFF (96km) : 14h00 (Average speed 15km/h)

  • Finish Line cut-off will be at 18h00. (Average speed 15km/h)

60 Miler:​

  • 60Miler Riders (102km)  will leave Swellendam at 08h00 and will reach Waterpoint 1 (31km) at about 09h30. The three waterpoints (31km/43km/67km) will be well stocked with water, Coke and some scrumptious snacks..

  • At Waterpoint 2 at Ouplaas (42km) you will enter a neutral zone for 30 minutes. Here you will be served with lunch and you'll experience real Overberg hospitallity. Unfortunately NO support boxes or Support vehicles for 60 MILER Riders.

  • Hamburger at the finish when you hand in your race number.

  • Finish Line cut-off will be at 16h00. (Average speed 13km/h)

25 Miler:​

25Miler Riders (48km) will leave Swellendam at 08h30 and will reach Waterpoint 1 (24km) at about 09h30.

  • 1 x Waterpoint on route (24km) will be stocked with water, Coke and some scrumptious snacks.

leave Swellendam at 08:30 and will reach Waterpoint 1 (28km) at about 09h30​

  • Hamburger at the finish when you hand in your race number.

  • Unfortunately NO support boxes or Support vehicles for 25 MILER Riders.

 

ALL routes is Cyclo Cross/Gravel Bike Friendly.

Please note this is an outdoor MTB gravel-road race. Please come prepared for all weather conditions. It can be nice and sunny, but also rainy and muddy.

PRIZE MONEY WILL ONLY BE APPLICABLE TO CATEGORIES WITH MORE THEN 5 ENTRANTS OR 5 TEAMS IN THE SPECIFIC CATEGORY.
